We are bringing together key community stakeholders who are committed to seeing the statistics of suicide reduced. By structuring partnerships with the subject matter experts of key agencies, efforts are concentrated and focused, reducing the fractured effect of multiple players. Through intentional scheduled education as well as availing online opportunities, impact is multiplied through anchored ambassadors for caregivers, veteran service organizations, first responders and churches. Our community will be the model for cities across the nation!

Charlynn Johns has over twenty-five years experience with the faith-based nonprofit Sunshine After Rain, a social service organization serving primarily overseas with orphans, people impacted by disabilities, trauma or war.

Charlynn Johns has over twenty-five years experience with the faith-based nonprofit Sunshine After Rain, a social service organization serving primarily overseas with orphans, people impacted by disabilities, trauma or war.
In 2008, she began serving returning military personnel and their families and developed the Battle-Buddy Info online directory for resources. In 2021 she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the Texas Veterans Commission Military Veteran Peer Network for Dallas County. She was also recognized as the Honoree of the Year in 2017 by the Greater Dallas Veterans Council for her work in the community.

He currently serves as the Dallas County Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) Peer Service Coordinator, helping service members, veterans and their families get much needed assistance through connecting

SENIOR DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR
David L. Whitley is a retired Air Force Master Sergeant. He served as Chief Operating Officer for Allies in Service for over nine years.
David has over 3,000 hours of Suicide Prevention training. He served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness as their Veterans Activity Network Director.
HHSC and the Texas Veterans commission coordinate to administer the Mental Health Program for Veterans with suicide prevention a focal point of efforts.
The Suicide Prevention Department regularly conducts community engagement initiatives as part of their ongoing efforts. Dallas responds to over 275 per month, second highest in the nation.
The Veterans Mental Health Program's mission is to train, educate in suicide prevention and provide technical assistance to Service Members, Veterans and their Families.
The Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act is a key legislative step to help stem the epidemic of veteran suicide.
Metrocare Services coordinates oversight of the Military Veteran Peer Network social service organization as well as facilitating the opening of the Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic in North Texas. Metrocare staff provide onsite training for Mental Health First Aid, educating the community in suicide prevention.
National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide has implemented a Veteran Community Action Network (VCAN) plan for champions across the nation can impact their areas by hosting workshops and training to raise suicide awareness and provide hope.
