1 HOUR - Lunch n Learn
ASFP Talk Saves Lives is a community-based suicide prevention introductory class. Classes offered weekly, contact the Dallas Veterans Resource Center for the next class or check the AFSP website for a chapter near you.
2 HOUSE COURSE
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.
8 HOUR COURSE
Mental Health First Aid USA is a live training program — like regular First Aid or CPR — designed to give ordinary people the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
1 DAY TRAINING
4 MONTHS of WEEKLY 1-HOUR CONSULTATION
MONTHLY ONLINE ADVANCED TRAINING
To meet the need of community mental health professionals to effectively treat military veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the STRONG STAR Consortium has launched programs to train providers in the use of evidence-based therapies for posttraumatic stress.
2 DAY INTERACTIVE COURSE
ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don't need any formal training to attend the workshop—anyone 16 or older can learn and use the ASIST model.
Special TAPS Programming and Resources provide gentle, understanding support to work through the complicated emotions associated with suicide loss. TAPS Postvention Model is now recognized as a highly successful empirical method of support.
